The cheese fondue is a traditional french dish. Of course it's better
to like strong cheese flavor if you eat a cheese fondue. But it's the
perfect dish to match red wine
Ingredients:
½ pound emmentaler shredded (swiss cheese)
½ pound gruyere shredded
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 garlic cloves
1 ½ cup white wine (dry)
1 Tbsp. cherry brandy
½ Tsp. mustard
1 Tsp. nutmeg
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
In a plastic bag place the cheese and the cornstarch. Seal the bag and shake in order to coat the cheese with the cornstarch
Rub the inside of a fondue pot with 2 garlic clove and discard.
Over medium heat add 1 ½ cup dry white wine and 1Tbsp. cherry brandy. Bring it to simmer and gradually add the coated cheese
Using
a wooden spoon you should keep stirring until the cheese is well
melted. Then add the mustard and the nutmeg and stir until well combined
Serve with old French bread (as the cheese fondue is going to make the bread soft old bread is better than fresh bread)
